Hyderabad Old City Bonalu embarked on a
Grand Note
Hyderabad:
Telangana Ashadha Masa Bonalu embarked on a grand note in old city of Hyderabad
in the wee hours with Baligampa ritual.Special poojas perfromerd to goddess of
Power Mahankali.Women wore in new traditional attire formed huge beeline at
Laldarwza Simahavahini Temple with Bonam Pots on their heads from early hours
in the morning and prayed the presiding deity to ward off evils.Bonam is an
offering of meal to goddess Mahankali is prepared
with cooked rice, Milk, Curd Jaggery.Later
it is taken out for offering in an
Earthen Pot adorned with Neem Leaves,Turmeric,Vermilion and a lit lamp on the
top of the Pot.
Tottela procession as mark to
appease the goddess to shower her blessings on all for well being carried on
with geity.Women went reveried danced the rhythmic beats of drums with earthen
pots on their heads while Potharajus dance enthralled the onlookers while
participants danced with him in great zeal.
All
major Temples of Old city i.e Laldarwaza Simhavahini Temple,Gowlipura Kota Maisamma,Bharatmatha
Temple,Sultanshahi Jagadamba Temple,Sultanshahi Mahankali Temple,Aliabad Darbar
Maisamma temple,Haribowli Akkanna Madanna Temple,Shalibanda Muthyalamma Temple
have been adorned with Arches and colourful lighting.

paid their visit to the temples in old city to offer prayer to goddess from
Morning till evening. Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya,MLA Kishan
Reddy,Dr.Lakshman,TRS M.P.Kavitha,Swamigoud,Deputy Speaker Padma Devender
Reddy,Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav,ace Shuttler P.V.Sindhu,Former Governor
Rosaiah offered pooja to the goddess Mahankali in Laldarwaza Simhavahini Temple
and Haribowli Akkanna Madanna Temple.
Bonalu to
conclude tomorrow :
The festival
will conclude tomorrow after a mass procession heading towards nayapul for immersion
of Ghatams.Procession begins with the oracle prediction, Rangam at 1pm.
Old City Streets reverberated with rhythmic Beats
with Potharajus remained the centre of attraction and youngsters danced to the pulsating
beats.The main procession started from Laldarwaza Simhavahini temple.12 Major
temples convoy of Ghatams procession passed on via Laldarwaza, Shalibanda,Charminar,Madina
to Nayapul for immersion.
